Snowy Reading....

Introducing Aura from Midnight: Century of the Vampires

Midnight:

The world is no longer the way we remember. Few are even still alive to recall the days when midnight didn’t mean cowered away & hidden. Out of sight became our only way to survive since the...Century Vampires.  If you want to live, trust no one.

Hi AURA and welcome to the Snowy Reading Blog hop. We're so excited to have you here today.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself. I have been on the run for as long as I can remember. The vampires have taken over the Earth and as long as I stay hidden, I stay alive.
  2. Do you enjoy or dislike winter? Tell us why. Winter means longer nights and that makes it easier for vampires to kill. So, no I don't like winters.
  3. What would you do on a date (or with close friends) on a snowy evening? Hide underground.
  4. When it's cold and dreary outside, what makes you laugh out loud? My partner in all of this…Mark. For someone who has been through so much, he sure has a good sense of humor.
  5.  If you were sitting around a fire, playing truth or dare, what would you choose and why? Truth. We've had enough dares in this dystopian world.
  6. Tell us about a winter memory from your childhood? Mama cooked us a delicious turkey for dinner, rare these days. We had to eat the meat in a closed room, windows barred. Vamps roamed outside all night.
  7. What is the most creative gift you would put under the tree? A sack of vamp repellent.
  8. Would you start a snowball fight? Yes. Mark deserves a good kick in the ass sometimes.
  9. Tell us about your favourite winter movie or book? We don't have time for movies or books these days. But we do manage to squeeze in a cuddle mow and then.
  10. How do you celebrate the holidays? Be it Christmas or Hannaukah or the Winter Solstice. We have a pine tree in the old church where we hide. We sing songs softly. But we always have one eye on the barred windows.

Love this quote by Wentworth Miller

What do you think about the cult of celebrity and the fact that we look up to celebrities for their opinions on important issues? It concerns me. I think it's a very dangerous game to play when you assume that just because someone's an entertainer they're automatically a role model. Entertainers are there to entertain. They aren't there to teach your children the lessons that you haven't bothered to teach them at home yourself. They're just doing their own version of entertaining. They're not by definition role models, and then we act all disappointed and scandalised when they do something disappointing or scandalising. There are people who are out there using their celebrity status for good works and that's commendable but mostly the obsession with celebrity is dangerous because I think most magazines and entertainment news shows sell this idea that somewhere out there is a better, more interesting, more glamorous, more beautiful life than yours, which makes you dissatisfied with what you have and you believe that life exists and the truth is that it doesn't or, if it does, the people involved aren't really having the great time you think they're having and that can be dangerous because I think life is about learning to be content with what you've got, making the most out of what you've been lucky enough to get rather than spending your days envying, and inevitably, I think, hating the people who you think have something they don't.
