The Hunted 2060 is an awesome sci-fi romantic 

thriller about the future. The author takes the 

reader on a very exciting trip into a future 

society set in Alaska in the year 2060 - 

into a future that is not like our own. 

The first chapter delivers a cleverly written 

description of the main character and the 

plight that the protagonist must face.

19-year old college student - April dealt 

with the changes that controlled her body 

and her urges. Adopted at birth, her true 

identity was never told to her until she 

had a chance meeting with her siblings 

and was told the truth about her past. 

She was then introduced into a world 

that was unknown yet very familiar to her. 

She fought against the beast within her as 

she continued to control her body from 

changing form as well as her urges 

throughout the story. April continued 

to attempt to maintain a normal life 

while continuing to attend college.

April adjusted to her new reality of 

becoming who she was to become - 

one of “the hunted.” Half human and 

half wolf-like species, April was 

introduced to the “clan” and learned 

about her family and their supernatural/alien 

connection called shifters that can change 

into different forms on earth and read 

minds of humans.

It was intriguing to learn more about 

the future society, the storyline and, 

the characters as the story progress 

throughout the book. The story was 

filled with several twists and turns 

that seemed well thought out.

The characters were believable and 

interesting. The author took her time 

in revealing the plot. I was impressed 

with the amount of imagination used to 

describe the story line, the characters 

and the surroundings. All of the details 

of the future society were woven in a 

well written manner. Just imagine a 

futurist novel with sky cars, hologram 

textbooks and robots to name a few 

coupled with a supernatural species of 

beings with supernatural abilities and 

supernatural twists that are very well 

put together - with elements of a 

sci-fi romance all in one.

I would recommend this book for anyone 

who is interested in reading a good sci-fi book.

My Review

April was one of the strongest herione's I have read. You could feel her struggle between to worlds. Not only being with a hybrid. She also struggled with making the right choice in relationships. I have to admit I love Arken's character better than good old Rogers. There was so much happening in The Hunted of 2060 but you never felt overwhelmed or that you couldn't keep up with the plot. The setting placed in the future, was something you could believe. The way Human's treated aliens seems real, and likely to happen. I could see The Hunted of 2060 hitting the big screen. This was the first book of Ami's I have read. I will continue to look for Ami Blackwelder's books in the future.

As my hand rose a careful inch, the figure returned and latched 
four steel cuffs around each of my limbs. Steel is a bastard to break.

‘This will hurt.’ The voice was a soft female sound, but scratchy. 
She poked a long iron rod into my leg and released an electrical current 
far greater than the first. Sharp pain. My body reacted in violence. 
Fur grew from my skin and claws grew from my nails.

‘Stop! Stop!’ I begged. My ears honed in on her stepping away 
and into conversation with another also garbed in a white trench coat.

‘Her features are surprisingly similar to your own,’ a male voice 
remarked.

‘Designed that way to blend with our race.’ The female voice 
spoke with certainty.

‘But still, the similarity is remarkable. She could be 
your sister, your daughter.’ The male voice stepped out of 
the room. The female figure returned to my cot, her heels 
clicking on the marble floor. I tilted my head in her direction, 
away from Diamond.

‘Why...why are you doing this?’

‘We have to study your transformation, the monster inside you.’ 
She showed no emotion.

‘I’m not a monster.’ I shook my head and body in refusal at the 
rod piercing my leg again, and again my body convulsed. 
My human skin faded, replaced by a growing wolf. 
‘I’m not a monster!’ I declared to her, to myself. ‘I’m April!’

Her head jerked back at those words, and she lowered the iron rod. 
 At her incredulous expression, I felt the power shift to me, 
though I didn’t know why.  My bones quieted, the fur 
retreated into my skin and the claws recoiled. ‘I’m April!’

The physician pulled away from me and the cloud that 
once covered my mind lifted. Her strong blue eyes became 
clear and a thought burrowed between her brows that 
hindered her movement. Her alabaster coloring contrasted 
the darkness of the previous room and she questioned 
herself in quiet.

‘She can’t be.’ She stood still, backed away and then 
approached again. ‘She would be about this age. 
She resembles me. Her name is...April.’ Each thought 
she declared aloud became my world. I only heard her voice. 
I only smelled her skin. I only saw her eyes. The name tag 
hung on the right side of her coat and dangled over me, 
Melissa Marn, and a word formed on my lips…

‘Mother?’

Her face became as clear as my own and our stare locked 
on each other’s, caught in space and time.

This is a very original, dark and romantic sci fi novel. I haven't read anything quite like it and the story, characters and dialogue all ring true to me. It is paced out very well with enough suspense, mystery and action as well as character development to engage my interest. I found the story compelling, especially the underlining themes of wildlife conservation and what prejudice does to humanity. I guess the ending is left open for a possible sequel. I am excited to find out if a sequel will be written and what will be the story of April, Robert and......(no spoilers).

So, will keep my eyes out for it and wish the author the best of luck. I hope to see it on shelves in bookstores. I would think a publisher would snatch it up quick. It would make a great movie.

I have just finished reading the book. From my personal experience, it's been a very enjoyable read. The book is a soft science fiction with a lot of human emotional interplay. It does not complicate matters by making it too technical, which is a common flaw with many science fiction novels that I have read. The story is engaging and will keep the reader motivated to continue reading, which is the most important indicator of successful writing as far as I am concerned. The structure of the story is smooth and easy to follow with the occasional twists which add to the strength of the plot. As always, the descriptive language used by the author is quite creative and will help the reader easily visualise the scenes vividly. Overall a five star because I have enjoyed it immensely and would recommend it to all soft science fiction lovers.
